What is a webinar?
Tech speak says; a Webinar is a transmission of an audio and visual media scheduled at a particular time or on demand over the Internet. The content comes from a single source to multiple viewers simultaneously.

In short an online presentation.

How does a Webinar work?
The audience each sit at their own computer and are able to view the presentation and hear the  audio from the presenter. There is no requirement for high end anything and it really is a simple process.

What sort of equioment do I need?
On a PC
    * Internet Explorer® 7.0 or newer, Mozilla® Firefox® 3.0 or newer or Google™ Chrome™ 5.0 or newer (JavaScript™ and Java™ enabled)
    * Windows® 7, Vista, XP or 2003 Server
    * DSL or better Internet connection
    * Minimum of Pentium® class 1GHz CPU with 512 MB of RAM (recommended) (2 GB of RAM for Windows® Vista)

On a Mac®

    * Mac OS® X 10.4.11 – Tiger® or newer
    * PowerPC G4/G5 or Intel processor (512 MB of RAM or better recommended)

Things are a little quiet at JustOneLap HQ with all the holidays around, but frankly, after a hectic first month we're enjoying the quiet. On that point, the first month has been fantastic judging by feedback received and the numbers across any metric we use; so a huge thanks to you all for helping to make JustOneLap a roaring success so far.

But even with the quietness enveloping us, we're finding time to do a couple of webinars.  The next one to look out for is on Thursday at 12h00, with Gary Stone sharing his knowledge about mechanical trading. Gary is now based in Australia and was out in SA in late 2010 to do a series of presentations. He knows mechanical trading better than most, having spent almost two decades refining his software. This is a not-to-be-missed webinar for traders at all levels.

We also have a webinar on Friday at 12h30 on Nil Paid Letters, those funny little things that arrive in your account suddenly one day as a result of a rights issue (I know your head is already hurting with all the jargon). This webinar will ensure that they never confuse you again and will also give you some great TLAs (three letter acronyms) to throw around at the next dinner party.

We're launching a new series of basic webinars for those just starting out in the world of shares and not sure where to turn. The first webinar will be on selecting a stock broker: what to look for and how to navigate through the maze of information to decide which broker is right for you (this webinar is on Wednesday 4 May at 12h30). The second webinar in this series is all about how to buy a share. This may sound simple enough, but there are actually lots of different options (including brokers, ETFs, auto investing, managed accounts, advisory accounts and more). This webinar is on Monday 23 May at 12h30.

The past week saw our first live event - JSE Power Hour presented by Warren Dick from Investor Monthly talking about Exchange Traded Funds. You'll find the webinar for on-demand viewing and downloading here.

We also had a webinar on investing or trading in oil. Yip, the price is flying once again and every time we fill up with petrol we wince at the cost. So get your own back and get into oil as an investment, or for the more adventurous, try your hand at trading the black gold.

We also have a new 100 second tip up on the website,  How much is that cappuccino?

Week ahead (and next week as holidays make it quiet)
