I was interviewing Nerina Visser from Nedbank Capital - BettaBeta on their new Green ETF (BGREEN) for JSEDirect earlier this week and she said something that really got me thinking.

Their new Green Index has been outperforming the ALSI by a decent margin since inception some three years ago and she suggested that it was likely because management who care about green issues have a longer term and perhaps more caring view and that played well into a company doing better.

Keith Mclachlan did a webinar at JustOneLap on Management and how they are critically important however the concept is very abstract and difficult to measure. But maybe being concerned by green and actually doing something is a way to measure management? Certainly it does seem to point to better share performance.

I like and this new BGREEN ETF and it will be this year's Christmas gift for my niece and nephew.

You can find the interview here, the management webinar here and more on the BGREEN ETF here.
