I've read the book, listened to the audio book, now working on applying what I've learnt. Anyone else apply the method successfully?

I have the book... quite interesting... I dont apply the method 100% but devised my own calculation, but learnt a bit from Phil, he is quite an interesting guy. I saw his appearance on "The Millionaire Inside" the CNBC show hosted by Erin Burnett. Thats where i saw him for the first time. He tends to look at the history, has to make consistent growth over 10 years or so and always growing, that makes sense, but right now i think most companies have the last year or 2 had a bad(ish) time and i think one shouldnt eliminate them because of this time... i cannot remember right now if he mentioned anything about such conditions... e.g. i can see value in some firms that have grown strongly during the crisis, extended their business as opposed to contracted but the economy is not suitable and that offers opportunity right now... i dont know if he looked at such companies. Hope that answers a bit?

Hey Werner, good to hear from you! People I've spoken to haven't heard of Phil or read the book, so nice to find someone in SA who has. I'd be keen to collaborate by sharing data, insights into the method, and or even jointing analysing a company we both have interest in. Look forward to hearing from you. Alex

Hey Warner, thanks so much for response. Most people I've spoken to haven't heard of the book. I'd be keen to collaborate on sharing data even analysis on a company we would both be interested or similar. Look forward to hearing more.

Hey Alex, It would be interesting to share ideas and analysis online, this website makes it quite easy and efficient to do... maybe you should join my group "Value Investor SA" and we can start an analysis thread there where we post data about certain companies, etc...
What companies are you interested in? I will give you my opinions on them and let you know if i am interested in them or not.
I tend to like companies with good dividends (even though i have one or two that dont even pay, but i believe these to be growth companies and capital appreciation is also important, one example is Canadian based Research in Motion which i own). Otherwise i tend to enjoy finding those companies that have consistent growth patterns, like Phil likes, but also believe one must look with some insight into their business and see the future, the more acurate your vision on the future of the industry, sector and company is the more likely you will have larger profits... haha... Solid durable businesses interest me the most though... not speculative companies...
